Our mission is to educate and develop a highly skilled workforce, through practical education and training, that will support competitive and sustainable aquaculture industries.
Education and training programs include intensive courses, degree programs, customized training, secondary school field trips, and teacher workshops. Students benefit from learning in an environment where our research projects and production facilities are their training field. Key concepts and new technologies from each research program are incorporated into the curriculum, hands-on activities, and course manuals that we provide to students.
The International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) coordinates and promotes marine research on oceanography, the marine environment, the marine ecosystem, and on living marine resources in the North Atlantic. Members of the ICES community now include all coastal states bordering the North Atlantic and the Baltic Sea, with affiliate members in the Mediterranean Sea and southern hemisphere.
The agency as organized on July 1, 1994, under the S.C. Restructuring Act is composed of the former Wildlife and Marine Resources Department, Water Resources Commission (non-regulatory programs), Land Resources Commission (non-regulatory programs), State Geological Survey (State Geologist), and S.C. Migratory Waterfowl Committee. These have been combined into the present division structure. The Department has developed a vision for the future to guide the agency in its mission and provide the public with a clear understanding of its plan to preserve South Carolina's natural wealth.

East Coast Training Services was established in October 2010 and we’re based at Trinity Quay in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.
Whether you’re a globetrotting professional, recreational boater or member of a rescue organisation, East Coast Training Services offers a range of specialist courses and professional qualifications to help you gain the skills and knowledge you need at sea.
As a recognised RYA training centre, delegates have peace of mind that all RYA courses are instructed and assessed by accredited instructors.
East Coast Training Services is also proud to offer the unique MST Vessel Transit & Transfer Training course. Learn how to transfer safely between a fully crewed transfer vessel typically used by offshore wind farm operators and a purpose built transition piece. It’s the only location in the UK to provide quayside training on a specially commissioned full scale transition piece which simulates the conditions experienced by transfer crew, but in a controlled environment.
